Product guide
About this 3/16-inch bubble wrap
Small-bubble wrap is designed to add a flexible cushioning layer around fragile surfaces without adding much weight or bulk. The 3/16-inch bubbles on these clear polyethylene rolls make them a practical choice for wrapping dishes, glassware, ornaments, collectibles and other breakable household items before they go into a moving or shipping box.
Choose a 12-inch roll when you want better control around smaller objects. Choose a 24-inch roll when you need to cover wider items with fewer passes. For very fragile or heavy pieces, use bubble wrap as one part of the packing system together with a properly sized corrugated box and enough cushioning to stop the item from moving inside the box.
Size guide
Which bubble wrap roll should I choose?
The right roll depends on the size of the items you are wrapping and how much packing you have to do.
| Roll size | Best for |
|---|---|
| 12in x 80ft | Small packing jobs, glasses, dishes, mugs and décor |
| 12in x 240ft | More fragile items while keeping a narrow, easy-to-handle width |
| 24in x 80ft | Frames, lamps, small appliances and wider objects |
| 24in x 250ft | Larger moves, frequent packing and covering wider items faster |
Packing tips
How to use bubble wrap when moving
- Prepare the surface. For delicate finishes, first add a clean layer of newsprint packing paper before applying plastic cushioning.
- Wrap the item securely. Place the bubbles toward the item in most cases, cover vulnerable edges and corners, and add extra layers where more cushioning is needed.
- Pack it in the right box. Put the wrapped item in a correctly sized moving or shipping box and fill empty space so the item cannot shift during handling.
- Close and label the box. Seal the carton with packing tape and clearly identify fragile contents where helpful.

Questions & answers
Bubble wrap FAQs
What is 3/16-inch bubble wrap best for?
3/16-inch small-bubble wrap is useful for surface protection and light cushioning around dishes, glassware, décor, collectibles and other smaller fragile items. For heavier or highly breakable items, combine it with a sturdy box and additional void-fill or cushioning rather than relying on bubble wrap alone.
Should the bubbles face the item or face outward?
For most household items, place the bubble side toward the item so the air pockets provide cushioning close to the surface. For delicate polished, painted or easily marked finishes, place clean packing paper or another suitable barrier around the item first, then add bubble wrap.
Should I choose 12-inch or 24-inch bubble wrap?
The 12-inch width is easier to handle around smaller items such as glasses, mugs, dishes and small décor. The 24-inch width covers more surface area at once, so it is more convenient for frames, lamps, small appliances and other wider objects.
How much bubble wrap do I need for moving?
The amount depends on how many fragile items you have and how many layers each item needs. An 80-foot roll suits smaller packing jobs, while the 240-foot and 250-foot rolls are better when you are wrapping many items or packing multiple rooms.
Can I use this bubble wrap for electronics?
It can be used as exterior cushioning for finished consumer electronics such as monitors, speakers and small appliances. Standard polyethylene bubble wrap is not anti-static, so do not use it directly on exposed circuit boards or static-sensitive electronic components; use anti-static packaging for those items.
